You should have at least 2 options here to do what you want:

the fist is that you will have a setting in your system configuration to 
not only select the various fonts to be used to display the desktop and 
its parts (like tabs, headings, etc), and the second is that you can set 
the dpi you want the system to use to display what is outputted to your 
screen. The default should be 96dpi but you can set that suit yourself.

The other 2 things, which you don't mention are: is this 1366x768 the 
native resolution of your laptop's screen? I don't recall seeing 1366 as 
a 'native' resolution. And the other is- are you concerned about ALL 
text showing on your screen or only about what shows in something like 
Thunderbird or Firefox or some other application? Both Thunderbird and 
Firefox, for example, have settings (in Preference>Display>Advanced) 
where YOU control the type and size of font you want.
