I think the newer HP units are not what the old ones are. I have
a LaserJet 2200D which I bought new around 2000. I'm not using
it in an office, but I print quite a bit on it, I've had to have it fixed
twice, but it's still going strong. That's 13 years! However, HP will
not support anything over 5 years old. They will not answer any
questions or anything, altho you can still get manuals on the
Internet. I think you should consider an older LaserJet, if you
can find one that is in good condition. For your stated low usage
it will probably last you forever. I have had no problem getting
supplies for it--HP knows these old timers last and last, so they
still make and refurbish the toner cartridges, which have a
significant part of the printing mechanism built in.
Oh--this model, and probably quite a few of the "office" type
machines, supports a JetDirect network card, and you can still
find those.
