Have you actually tried this? Which version?

I just installed from the repositories, it is version 9.5.1.

Right click my pdf avi → clickOpen with Adobe Reader 9 → Fill in some
forms → File → Save a copy… → This dialogue is opens:

Save a Blank Copy of this
Form________________________________________________________
| Data typed into this form will not be saved. Adobe Reader can only
save blank copy of this form.

Please print your completed form if you would like a copy for your records.

I found out about that new feature in Evince (in 2010 I think) that
let me do this, and it worked perfectly for me until I abandoned
Ubuntu 10.10, replacing it with a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04, all
of this I already mentioned.

So unless there is a newer version of Adobe Reader, this isn't
possible at all now, unless I find a third PDF viewer that can.
