I use our google group shared calendar via T-Bird and Lightening extension.

I'm figuring you would have to configure one of your machines to work as 
server, for the other to connect to. I export our google calendar to our 
web page and it's pure-eyed amazing to edit my calendar ~here~, locally 
in T-Bird, have it update google group then our webpage ,.. when I have 
all open in different tabs in Firefox.

Simple things just delight me, anyways. "Easily amused" :) Ric
