Don't you have a System Monitor? Use that to see which app is taking up 
100% of which cpu.

If you don't have a System Monitor then try, in a terminal, the command 
'sudo ps aux' - use Shift-PageUp to go to the top, and work your way 
down with Shift-PageDown.
