Connecting to public wifi hotspots

I already suggested my workaround:-

Run Windows XP (or windows whatever) as a guest in VirtualBox and use IE
in that to get around any odd quirks in the WiFi login that require
Windows for whatever reason.

In my experience the system works (once you've done the required login
jiggery-pokery) by allowing connections from a specific IP that it has
assigned to your connection so generally once connected you can do all
you want.
