libreoffice has been reinstalled - no  change.

"%U" is a substitution macro - I assume for the filename. Anyway, the
command I was using on the command line was exactly the one you describe
except that there's no "4.0" on my system, and with a filename in place
of "%U" (or nothing to open a new blank presentation). If "%U" is
something else, let me know.
