Maybe I'm just lucky, then, to be living in a Virgin Media cabled area.
As far as I know, they don't block any ports at all. I'm port forwarding
SSH, HTTP, SMTP and IMAPS, and it all "just works". Faults get fixed PDQ
too.

So may I recommend Virgin Media if you can get it, and 1&1 for your
domain registration.
