telnet localhost 25 script/software

I know that the telnet commands to test smtp:

can be scripted, or even put in cron.


However, I remember installing a little utility that automated that and 
would send a test message.  As it went through the telnet commands it 
would output the telnet command/response.  

Kinda neat, but I can't find it.  Anyone know what it is?
