Ruby and ri(1) ruby information

Whoops, had to install yasm.  However, I still get:

so, that's a syntax error with the build file?


May I suggest using RVM.
I have Ruby and gems installed in ubuntu, Fedora on several machines. 
RVM handles the hard yards on all with grace and ease.
I will admit that Ruby et al is, for me,  more problematic to install in 
ubuntu than Fedora and Rails is also difficult on ubuntu
