I don't think there is any easy GUI way of doing it, which is a shame.
There are about 4 or 5 different ways to configure it from the shell,
by making different changes to different files. I used Xubuntu for a
while -- I've switched back to Unity now -- and I had great difficulty
making it work, I have to warn you.
There are local ways of doing it -- local means on a per-user basis,
i.e., by creating config files in your home directory, and possibly by
also amending startup scripts to read those config files. There are
also global ways of doing it, for all users, by editing config files
and scripts in /etc somewhere. I found the latter easier than the
former.
