Would the radio connection not be considerably slower than the cat5? Its
what, 20 megabit at best.
I've not tried it here so I am genuinely curious, with anything but USB2
which is fast enough to strain my quad core phenom. I'd assume the cat5,
100 megabit here would be marginally faster than USB2, but the radio would
be noticeably slower.
Can others comment?
And if I do the WPS thingy on a dd-wrt router after enabling the printers
radio, how would I see it in the localhost:631/printers menu's?. But after
typing that, I find there doesn't appear to be any WPS support in dd-wrt.
So its a moot question to ask about the radio in my case.
Ethernet OTOH, seems easy enough to setup, so lets see if cups can use it.
Yup, but a test page does not a novel print, so we'll see how it works when
I do need to print something. So now I have 2 paths to that printer. What
is interesting is that cups, when told to search for printers, found 5
copies of it. So I am wondering what the other copies are? At least 2
were "tcp_local". Someday I need to buy me a 16 port gigabit switch. 8 is
not enough even with additional hubs out in the shop. ;-) This keeping up
with the Jones's is running me ragged. The shop lashup could be simplified
if I did buy a 16 port, and took this 8 port 100M out there.
Decisions...
Cheers, Gene
