WS=> I guess the title of the email is confusing.   I really want to be 
able to disable services loaded at boot time.  I already know how do 
disable startup services that are in the Startup app GUI. Saned, 
Buletooth, and modem-manager seem to be loaded at boot time and are not 
listed in the GUI.   Modem-manager in particular is problematic because 
it slows the boot time and also interferes with the shutdown.   My 
computer seems to operate correctly but maybe the modem-manager is 
causing problems at run time that I am unaware of.
