Blank Updates status

I am surprised that we are not hearing feedback re: the blank updates.  
Is canonical testing us to see if we are gullible enough to just 
download anything?  Is this a survey to test our level of concern re: 
security?

This has been going on for a couple of weeks.  My concern is, am I not 
downloading security improvements?  Are there others like me out there 
(hello ...)?  This might mean that the ubuntu (x in my case) OS 
computers all over the world are not current, which might be a security 
or marketing risk (marketing-if we don't have the current revs, people 
might complain about problems with the OS which are not problems at all, 
just not current versions.)

I might be over blowing this - I do that often.
