Xubuntu 12.04 re-installed and the intel update added using the PPA. All 
outstanding updates were added and the PC left on running System Monitor 
for about 16 hours. There were no problems encountered with either the 
keyboard or mouse buttons and a number of applications were added 
successfully.

All test results were good until I had just finished setting up the 
network printer when an error was reported. Apparently, something called 
'tumbler' had crashed. The PC carried on working and no other errors 
were encountered. After a further 16 hours of running the PC still seems 
to be working OK.

I am beginning to wonder if there is some fault or other starting to 
develop with the motherboard. What do you think and how could this be 
checked.
