Unix copy method not working for gnome terminal

yes. The traditional unix copy method. In fact being inside vim
makes a difference. By the way vim is reading mouse position now.
It is new for me. I wanted to paste where the vim cursor was placed
and middle-clicked anywhere on the terminal window. Vim pasted
the text where the mouse pointer was placed. Ugly!!!
