Ubuntu iOmega NAS directly connected

I have an IOmega 1TB nAS drive, which I cannot see anymore using the router.
To check whether I have all files in backup, I connected this NAS with
crossover cable to my Ubuntu PC.
PC is stand alone, no other connections, no wireless.
Can see that it is connected, see response when I ping the IP address.
Cannot see the files however and using firefox and use IP in address bar,
no luck.
Question: how can I get to see the files on the system??
