Unforch it cannot do that, complaining that all the index.html files are
supposed to be directories. It does draw a gui that faintly resembles
mc, but only an icon view seems to be available, and the drag-n-drop I
attempted was refused, no perms.
So I quit it, went to a root shell and started it. Took at least 30
seconds to draw its default screen, with the comedy of errors reported
in the terminal behind at starting with:
kbuildsycoca4 running...
kbuildsycoca4(7093) VFolderMenu::loadDoc: Parse error in "/root/.config/menus/applications-merged/xdg-desktop-menu-dummy.menu" , line 1 , col 1 :
"unexpected end of file"
kbuildsycoca4(7093) KConfigGroup::readXdgListEntry: List entry Categories in "/usr/share/applications/freecad.desktop" is not compliant with XDG
standard (missing trailing semicolon).
There were about 2000 more lines of that naming most of the files on the
system. This being ubuntu, I do the root work with sudo -i. So the /root
directory has never been configured for X if that means anything.
I was able to get this root version I launched to also draw an mc like
overlay window, but there seems to be no place to change the default
google login that I see in either window. No clue as to which sub pane
was in focus, and entering the path I wanted it to show me the files in
from the text box was an error, "url cannot be listed" in some sort of
a small box About display.
So, unless this can be configured to work, it does resemble a waste of time.
Thank for trying, I appreciate it. I guess all I can do is plead for MC
to get some sorely needed TLC.
Cheers, Gene
