Ahhh - you didn't mention you were installing into a Virtual Image.
That changes things somewhat.

PointSec is irrelevant now - you'll already be inside windows to fire
up the VM image so you can forget about it.

thx again Steve, i do not want to install using "easy install". but i still like that link coz i did not know the 'cool' unity feature. i will try it sometime.
back to my current confusion. so it seems i am good to try another VM machine install (previous one not coming up) and this time select yes to GRUB install on MBR?
pc->pointsec->win xp -> vmplayer -> manual ubuntu 12.04 server install as VM -> select yes to "install GRUB in MBR?"
correct?
