Is there some particular reason why you couldn't have started a new
thread rather than hijacking the original thread of "Can't log into Ubuntu"?
Is there some reason why long time subscribers to this list continue to
respond to hijacked threads, go on your merry way, and simply ignore the
fact that you've just contributed to the issue? Colin... Oliver...
Liam... etc.
I realise that this list is approaching 'Unity' status (not much can be
done about that), and that there are now new users on the list, and that
thread hijacking is liable to happen. But why is it that those that
should know better, ignore the fact that the thread has been hijacked,
and post away anyway. 16 OT replies to " remaster ubuntu alternate". 9

I wonder where if there is an "App" in the 'Software Center' for
@Amaury VH: when you signed up for this list you went to:
https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-users
There is this there:
"
English (USA)
This list is for Ubuntu user technical support. This is not a place for
general discussions. For more information and guidelines please see the
FAQ - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuUsersListFAQ"
That link (that the powers-to-be chose) doesn't tell you much about
actually using the list. There is only:
What is the mailing list etiquette?
The general etiquette for all official Ubuntu mailing lists is detailed
at http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community/mailinglists
and by some miracle, the new user is supposed to magically click on that
link and end up here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community/mailinglists
where long time list subscribers can use this to lambast you for thread
hijacking:
"When starting a new subject, do not reply to a previous email from the
mailing list. If you do, your email may form part of a previous thread.
To start a new subject, use a clean email."
To sum up... it's not your fault & I'm not blaming you - at all.
Quite simply IMO, the Ubuntu user mailing list has now defaulted to
Unity mode; it's now a forum, an askubuntu, or just fire away & it's
quite OK to top post, post with html, or Fsck All and hijack someone's
thread and keep on rolling.
I reckon that all of the "remaster ubuntu alternate" OT posters owe an
apology to the original author of this thread "Can't log into Ubuntu:
