Video display won't cooperate

With a new television in the house, I finally got my 37" back and hung
it on the wall. I have it connected to my Ubuntu box via NVIDIA card and
DVI to HDMI cable. With the drivers loaded and the Nvidia utilities
installed, I setup the monitor. For whatever reason, even at 200%
overscan, I cannot get the resolution quite right, or get the entire
display on-screen. Is there some manual way to adjust the geometry so
that I can get this to work or do I need to switch to VGA?
Thanks, as always, for the help.
