By the way, did you see my & someone else's comments in your /other/
thread about a few basic troubleshooting steps to test your system for
stability problems? I'd /really/ recommend that you do them.

As for the helpful advice to check for lines in your
/etc/X11/xorg.conf file - they are made with the best of intentions
but sadly they no longer apply, as recent releases of Ubuntu run
without an xorg.conf file at all.

If you have nVidia binary drivers installed and working, run

nvidia-settings

... and this will let you inspect and set your graphics settings. If
you run it with

sudo nvidia-settings

... then you'll be able to save the settings and it will write an
xorg.conf file for you, to make them permanent.
