keyboard works in BIOS & GRUB but not during boot

Just a shoot in the dark but, once you get to the point where you need
to type in the passphrase, unplug the keyboard from the usb port and
then plug it back in. I was using an old ps2 keyboard with a usb
adapter and many times I would get to the desktop and have no keyboard.
Unplugging and plugging it back in would activate the keyboard for me.
