selection disappear

It has nothing to do with color, pure black text on white background in:

evolution, notes, leafpad and pan

When I select some text and release the left mouse button the selection 
disappear, but is copied to the clipboard manager.

When I have to delete a lot of text in above programs, I have to keep 
delete button pressed and wait until all text I want deleted is deleted, 
very boring.
