Tools to update exif? Better way to use Shotwell?

Thanks for the reply!
The dates in the filename are not uniform. Sometimes it is the name of
months, sometimes the number of the months, sometimes the day is omitted if
it wasn't known. So I don't think I could programmaticaly parse the date.
