True, true. I would bet that Windows wouldn't be so anal about changing
chipsets out from under it, if it weren't so highly pirated. With Linux?
Who cares where a loaded hard drive goes?
So, I would suggest it's a "follow the money" angle, not a deficiency,
when viewed as more of a business model. I recall reading that about 1/3
of all Windows installations in China were pirated copies. Heh, Linux
should own that market. But, with that number of illegal users, who
could have adopted Linux for free and didn't, says we have a way to go
to fit the needs of people.
OTOH, I USED to be a fairly major pirate, back in the Apple][ days. With
Linux, I do not go to jail. I get as much software as I need without
risking my freedom. Thank you, Linus! Again, it's not Windows that I
despise, it's MS. Heck, I don't like Apple Corp either, for personal
reasons, but they do make some good product. Ric
