Well, you got it working using the proprietary drivers, so nothing
more to say here...

However... there is/will be a 2D Unity.  It just didn't get finished
in time for Natty.  Oneiric will have the 3D Unity as the default
desktop and the 2D Unity will be the fallback for systems that don't
support the 3D stuff out of the box (mainly nVidia stuff).
