Goh,

I downloaded 11.04 from Ubuntu, used the live CD to create 13 GB of free
space, created the three partitions that I read (on the web) that it
needed, clicked on Install -- twice.

Yes, I'm willing to use Grub 2. What I'll likely need are clear
instructions on how to get rid of Grub 1, then how to install Grub 2 and
configure it. I have installed Startup-manager as per some info on the
web. It didn't help, but it was worth a try.

The Ubuntu installation needs some work in this area. I was presented
with two options -- use the whole disk, or Other. I had to choose Other
and hope I did things correctly. What should have happened (in my
humble opinion) is that there should have been an option to use the free
space to install Ubuntu. This option would make my life easier, and
likely less bother to the people like yourself that try to help us well
intended, but misguided.
