[Maverick] Broken flash plugin

Since the last updates I have had a problem viewing videos. Error 
message stating that I need the latest flash plugin appear. Checking 
with synaptic shows that the latest flashplugin-nonfree and 
flashplugin-installer are in fact installed. I have tried uninstalling 
them and reinstalling them several times. I am using a Sony Laptop with 
Maverick fully updated as of this morning. Firefox 3.6.16 and 
flashplugin 10.2.153.1ubuntu0.
