Will DDR3 memory freeze 10.04?

it's a total freeze.  i have ssh installed and can't ssh to it nor ping
it.  i tried running the system w/o a graphics card and it still froze.
 i am still troubleshooting, running memtest for several days to see if
anything happens.  i have a feeling i will just have to buy new
components and swap them out until i find who the culprit is......
