The above is info from sda (presumably 10.04)

But Joep, what's on sdb and sdc?
Are there OS's there? And are any of these OS set to mbr instead of the 
10.04 (presumably sda)?

Can you try that (sudo grub-install /dev/sda) while in 10.04? (that is, 
if you want 10.04 to 'take over' mbr.

Note: you will still get old kernel (2.6.32-25-generic instead of 
2.6.32-32-generic) if the OS of sdb or sdc is set to mbr and they have 
not 'update-grub' yet. If you want the grub of OS from sdb or sdc to 
boot, then you need to 'update-grub' there.
