Ubuntu can't see usb drive

I don't think the blkid output is helpful because it doesn't tell
anything about the disks. Please post the output of the command
sudo fdisk -l
That should identify the disk sizes and partitions.

No. USB doesn't know anything about master/slave. That is a "feature" of
IDE disks and only if they are on the same bus.
