with DOS,  windows 3.1, amigaOS 3.1 you could put your programs (and their data files) where you wanted them, most of the time you would let the installer use the default location, unless you had another reason


in vista/7 you have a folders called "user" and "Document and settings"
the closest linux concept to "Document and settings" folder is the "home" folder
I still don't get why have a "user" folder, when the "document and settings" folder dose the same job

add in MS office 2010, then you start getting Where the f*ck is <insert program/file/option> ?

the gui looks more like a piece of art, I would hang on a wall/in the bin
