OT - Multimedia / presentation projector

Off Topic, but a "one off" topic that I would not probably go elsewhere for.

Do any of you have experience with purchasing projectors that can be 
used for presentations at meetings?  (Somewhat portable, not the "home 
theater" variety)

My thinking is that the important factors are:
1. Ability to play nice with almost any laptop
2. Resolution
3. Brightness
4. Luggability

Anyone have suggestions of minimum requirements or other suggestions?

Use is for a service club, mostly presentations but occasional movies, 
to be stored on site.
