I just looked and I had mii-tool but not ethtool. Perhaps ethtool
comes with something else Colin installed.
It seems that not all installs behave the same way. My A2X4 and Dell
systems were installed from the same Ubuntu 10.10 CD and they have
different behaviors and not all the same packages (especially now that
I've installed a whole slew of different ones tailored to each
machine) even though originally I would have expected them to be at
least close if not the same. Even the same software doesn't seem to
behave the same, though that could be due to the A2X4 having legacy
software & config files from CentOS and the Dell being a brand new
install.
