Beagle stopped working after update - solved, sort of

Thanks for reminding me of that. I installed the Synaptic version, let
it index, and it seems to be working well so far.

I used an earlier version some time ago, and the current version is
**MUCH** better than the quite old one I had tried before. I had
worked with the developer to put in some advanced search capabilities,
and those are MUCH better integrated and 'smoother' to use than in the
old version. My initial impression is that it is now equal to Beagle
in usability, and superior for complex searches. At this point, it is
about equal to my favorite DTsearch.

All this depends on how reliable it is over time, of course, but it
looks good so far. If it keeps working, I would recommend it as the
best choice for search.

Maybe it will *keep on* working, unlike the dead Beagle. :-))
