I have a fundamental problem with Ubuntu, and that is rather than fixing the
bugs in a version, they put the fix in the next version -- where they
introduce more bugs.   This is a similarity to MS Windows and not a
confidence builder.

The VLC problem has existed since September 2009; another example is the
Stellarium package that has been broken since November 2009.

I'll upgrade after Gnome 3 is integrated, Unity isn't forced and I'm willing
to lose applications Ubuntu won't fix without introducing a new buggy OS.
