G.

Thank you so much, I'm not very acquainted at efficiently posting bugs.

Some days after noticing the issue, I decided to run Live CD's daily
last version from cdimage.ubuntu.com (a freshly burnt USB stick), in
case something went wrong with my actual install. Observed the same
issue, but this time Sound Recorder crashed ugly. Since it is a
diverse hardware (from the originally referred bug), I decided to open
my own bug report at:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-media/+bug/771633

just edited, thanks to your comments, to a better name,

Nvidia MCP77/78 HDMI - Realtek ALC888 - mic not functional - Recorder & Skype

description and alsa-info.txt attached. Perhaps you could give it a look.

What puzzles me is that I'm running a plain vanilla desktop, assembled
a couple of years ago, fully burnt in, that has worked flawless
(except smbd) with at least Karmic, Lucid and Maverick 64. Natty is
being released today and it seems to me quite impressive,
unfortunately for the worse at the time being.
