osx issue in vmware on ubuntu host

Originally I had osx working in vmware player.  After an upgrade to
ubuntu I lost the usb keyboard in the osx guest.

I don't need osx that often so I ignored it till now.

When i start the machine i see the keyboard as a available usb device
and it says to use the status bar or devices menu to enable but.... I
don't have a keyboard to escape out of the guest console. I do have
the mouse.

Any ideas how to get keyboard working in vmware osx guest
