audio problems in 10.10

Funny, sound has always just Worked For Me.  (hardware choices, I'd
guess) I see that all the work arounds come back to pretty much the same
thing; un-install and then re-install.  Is that right?  If so, it
shouldn't be that  tough to get (most) everything online to agree.
Let's us just bomb the 'net with proper technique.

I'm game; let's roll!
