I think in this day and age, most mobiles could be pretty good gateways!
You'd be hard pressed to find any commercial hardware on sale that will
not provide your needs.

Also, bear in mind that if you wish to configure an ubuntu box, (or any
linux box for that matter), as a router/gateway  then your not really
looking at an application as such, you'll need to get up to speed with
some networking principles so that you can decide what you actually want
your router to do.

quick google, an don the surface, it seems great. But try not to copy
this guide learn the principles, and then custom build your own. At
least that way, you get 2 notches on your ubuntu belt - understanding
the principle, and then applying it to a situation, rather than
'copying' !
