I'm afraid you just did a regular upgrade.(apt-get upgrade did it for
you) Didn't ring a bell when you typed "upgrade" and confirmed? LOL
Maybe Ksplice's team didn't get the package ready in time. And you have
to wait a few days before it will be ready. Sounds fair to me.
Here's a nice article which explains a lot about Ksplice and how it
works. Source:
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/aix/library/au-spunix_ksplice/
Below a brief quote from the article:
---- quote ----
It is essential to remember that Uptrack Manager does not usurp the role
of your distribution's standard package manager. All changes that
Ksplice makes are applied to the running kernel and exist in memory
only. Therefore, __all Ksplice patches are lost upon shutdown__.
Continue to update your kernel on disk with a traditional software
maintenance procedure, such as running:
apt-get update; apt-get upgrade
Run this as root on a regular basis or when your distribution informs
you of new system updates. Keeping the kernel on disk up to date ensures
that your system boots the best kernel available when your system
eventually requires a restart.
---- end quote ----
Hope this helps.
