             I guess I was not simple enough for you. With the external 
HD turned on, it is plugged into a USB port and the external HD is shown 
at /media/.  I am at /media/ with a call that looks like:

     $ sudo rm -rf ebf42.....

it is deleting the bad directory.


The deleting takes quite a time.
