While looking for something else, I just found something in Nautilus
that might help. In Edit->Preferences Click on the Preview tab and
adjust the setting for the file types you want to see from "Local
Files Only" to "Always." That might be what you want, but I'd bet
it's a performance drag, especially if you have hundreds of files to
preview across a network.
I don't use geeqie, so I can't help you there....
