Wrong. KDE 3.5 isn't being maintained by the KDE devs. It's been "forked", 
sort of, to the "Trinity Desktop Environment" and is now at release 3.5.12

I can't say what's it's future, but you can follow the instructions and 
install it on Ubuntu, Debian and Slackware.
