Gnash is not installed by default on any release of Ubuntu. It may
have been installed when you clicked through the 'install flash'
dialog in firefox, but we don't ship it on the CD.

Different versions of Gnash, firefox, audio subsystem, video driver,
kernel etc exist in 10.04 and 10.10.
Any one (or a combination) of those could cause slowdown.
