Well, I took the plunge and upgraded to Lucid 10.04 LTS.
I must say is didn't go smoothly but the great4est problem I had with
dovecot! For 1,5 days I couldn't receive mail but using google I found
that the developers completely changed dovecot .conf file and that for 3
months many people complained about this problem but but with the
workarounds and updates I have mail again. Thunderbird was also a
problem and why the developers still haven't added the sensors module
for the Phenom II processors is beyond my understanding (I had k10temp
module for 8.04 already!).
But it is an improvement in many respects, faster, less overhead and for
the first time the sound from my guest OS Windows XP is OK! I can run my
music notation program with good sound (and even pulse is running!!).
Sorry for the blog but I'm happy it works but upgrading like this is not
for the faint-hearted!.
