Bug: Gtk-WARNING ... .recently-used.xbel (seen with evince)

When I use evince to look at a pdf file I get several warning, mainly
about the file ".recently-used.xbel'" (see warnings below). I have
searched and found all kinds of threads about the file warning, but
none have a solution that works for me. I would like to file a bug
but the bug reporting system doesn't seem to work, and I cannot find a
new bug entry point on Launchpad other than the steps that don't work
on my system.

I am running Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS (64-bit) and Python 2.7 installed from source.

Ideas solicited.

Thanks.
