State of the 64bit?

Well, while I can't speak for others, I 'stumbled across the problem' by
doing nothing more than the standard installation. Granted, it was on
slightly older hardware (about a 3 year old Acer Aspire laptop) but
still *should* have worked.

Didn't have many problems to be sure but, at the time, the advice was to
go to 32bit and, when I did, all my problems were fixed. The only thing
that didn't work out of the box was the wifi network and Flash. Both
were easily fixed.  In 10.04, everything worked on 32bit out of the box
and I've yet to even try 64. I've got no real need for it and with only
3GB of RAM, I hear I might have some performance issues.
