But it does make a good job at presenting things (specialy to new users) and I 
have used both.

I agree that the Software center should throw some warnings (such that just 
clicking on the education tools, KDE version, will install most of KDE 4 - 
obvious for exprienced users, not for noobs)

I found the software center great to get an idea of software that is available 
but I did not know of, and might have missed in the long, long list of 
synaptic.
